Friends of the City of Peterborough Symphony Orchestra

The Friends of the CPSO are a group of increasingly active supporters of the orchestra. The annual membership the friends pay (£10-15) helps financially towards the staging of concerts. In return, Friends have advance notice of concert dates and programmes and a chance for early purchase of tickets at a concessionary price. At most concerts Friends’ seats are situated in a block, towards the front of the theatre to ensure a good view.

During the last four seasons, Friends have been given the opportunity to enjoy social events, to see the working of the orchestra at open rehearsals – and, occasionally, chances for offering practical, behind the scenes help. This includes stewarding and being involved with fund-raising events – nothing too onerous, as our increasing membership (somewhat over 60 at the end of last season) allows for a rota system of volunteers. The involvement strengthens our relationship with the players and there is an increasing sense that we have a role to play in the orchestra’s future. We have experienced five enjoyable years with excellent concerts, and we look forward to continuing our support and extending our activities into this and future seasons. Some exciting events are already in preparation!
