Stephanie Lewis, 26-year-old mezzo-soprano from Suffolk, is currently studying as the Derek Butler Opera Scholar for a postgraduate diploma in the Benjamin Britten International Opera School, at the Royal College of Music, having completed her first degree in Music at the University of Surrey in June 2004.

University performances include Elgar's Sea Pictures with the University Symphony Orchestra, and Schumann's Frauenliebe und Leben for which she won the Robert Naylor Memorial Prize for the most meritorious recital.

Since beginning her studies at the RCM, Stephanie has performed with some of the top UK orchestras, including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the English Chamber Orchestra, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Operatic roles include 'Ottavia' in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea (BBIOS), 'Baba the Turk' in Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress (BBIOS), 'Maman', 'La Tasse Chinoise', and 'La Libelulle' in Ravel's L'enfant et les Sortilieges (BBIOS), and the title role in the premiere performance of Joseph Horowitz's Ninotchka. Other operatic experience includes Verdi's Macbeth, Mozart's Cosi fan Tutte and Bach's St. Matthew Passion for the 2007 Glyndebourne Opera Festival, and Bellini's la Sonnambula, Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and Giordano's Andrea Chenier with Opera Holland Park. Concert performances include Handel's Dixit Dominus and Haydn's Nelson Mass with Paul Spicer in St John's, Smith Square, Mozart's Requiem for the 'Sounds New' Festival with Nicholas Cleobury, Handel's Messiah for the Newbury Festival of Choirs, Vivaldi's Gloria with the London Pro Arte Orchestra, and Simon Bainbridge's Caliban Fragments and Aria for Mezzo-Soprano and Orchestra under the baton of Edwin Roxburgh. 

Upcoming performances include 'Irene' in Handel's Atalanta for the Handel Society/BBIOS, 'The Dog' in Janacek's Cunning Little Vixen (BBIOS), the alto soloist in Mozart's Requiem at the Royal Albert Hall, and the alto soloist in Mahler's 2nd Symphony
