Katy was born in 1992 and
began to play the violin when she was five, initially studying with Alex
Brulo. She played in the Peterborough Youth Orchestra and the Birmingham
Junior Symphony Orchestra, and took part in a number of festivals. In July
2003 she won a competition to play Lalo's Symphony Espagnole with one of the
Birmingham orchestras.
In September 2003 she joined the
Yehudi Menuhin School, where she is now studying with Berent Korfker. Since
joining the school she has taken part in concerts as a soloist and as a
member of the orchestra.
In 2006 Katy performed as a
soloist with the City of Peterborough Symphony Orchestra. The following year
she took part in a school tour around Scotland and performed Saint – Saens
concerto with the Uttlesforde orchestra. Earlier this year she performed at
the Corn Exchange in Cambridge and played the Mendelssohn concerto with the
Warwickshire County Youth Orchestra.
